New colorful arrivals from JoAnne Bird. Full of vibrancy and motion, these 30″x 40″ pieces are stunning. JoAnne found her destiny as an artist with her grandmother in South Dakota. Her paintings depict her Native American heritage, portraying a rich traditional way of life in a contemporary style. They speak directly to timeless spirit,and are full of bold colors and motion, depicting warriors and horses. Her preferred medium is acrylic, and she combines a unique technique of controlled paint throwing and the use of a palette knife. JoAnne has received numerous awards, and was inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame as Artist of the Year in 1992 . Additionally, The Western America Award is given for achievement in any and all fields of endeavor that relate to the preservation and interpretation of the histories and cultures of South Dakota, the Northern Plains,and the American West.In recognition of Dr. Bird’s achievements in the arts, and her celebration of the cultural heritage of her people, the Board of Directors  of the Center for Western Studies has presented the American Award to the talented
JoAnne  Bird.
