Hayfield Sunset by Randy Van Beek, Oil on Canvas
Magpie Morning and Summertime by Gary Huber, Pastel
Spirits in the Wind Gallery’s artists: Gary Huber and Randy Van Beek’s
paintings reflect the importance of our hay fields.
“Hay is a very important crop in Colorado. According to state agricultural statistics for 2010, non-alfalfa hay production for Colorado was 1,700,000 tons on 780,000 acres. Jackson (North Park) and Grand (Middle Park) counties combine for 75,500 tons on one cutting a year. That is a lot of hay.by Tony Bruguiere Ft. Collins, Colo.”

Honorable Mention Award – Artist, Gary Huber

An Early Start, 10 x 10, pastel on archival panel, © 2016 Gary Huber. Winner of Honorable mention award at 5th Annual Plein Air for the Park
Wyoming artist, Gary Huber, was raised in Pennsylvania Dutch farm country. Gary has always had both feet firmly planted in the great outdoors. His artistic development began at an early age accompanying his mother on Plein Air expeditions into the lush Pennsylvania countryside toting his own box of oil paints. While he was encouraged to keep painting he chose instead to pursue a scientific career that took him to Denver, Colorado. There he spent 25 years, eventually founding a software company devoted to computerized landscape visualization.
“Feels like you are right there. I hear the boat motor and birds early in the morning. Gary creates
settings of serenity and calmness we all crave.” Pam Eggemeyer, Owner of Spirits in the Wind Gallery

Beauty of the West on Canvas
“Beauty of the West” Show at Spirits in the Wind Gallery June 6th – 30th
Spirits in the Wind Gallery features National Artists, Don Dernovich and Gary Huber. Both western artists have a common interest in wildlife and the outdoors, and once lived in Colorado.
Don Dernovich worked as an illustrator in Colorado and worked in Wyoming. He has been an art educator in Nebraska and is an award winning artist, including first place in oil at the Phippen Museum Western Art Show, and Best Watercolor at the Western Spirits Art Show. He is a member of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters and a Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America, the National Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society.
Gary Huber raised in Pennsylvania but pursued a scientific career that took him to Denver, Colorado. There he spent 25 years, eventually founding a software company devoted to computerized landscape visualization.
Now residing in WY, he is influenced and inspired by the rich landscape. Gary brings to the easel his own unique sense of composition and light borne from lifelong study and an early interest in photography. He has since developed a unique style of pastel painting that often is mistaken for oil but whose luminous surface, upon close examination.
