In my recent artworks I have been designing and shaping large, thick glass sculptures that have evocative textures and narratives. Making this art involves elements of planfulness and chance. First, I design, layer, and shape the glass into plotted designs. Then, under the tremendous heat of the kilns, the glass becomes soft and pliable and eventually cools and hardens into textured and expressive sculptures. The kilns and gravity are my collaborators- together we make large sculptural forms that embody silent, flowing narratives.
